DSC_6770sunsetThe School of Classics at the University of St Andrews is encouraging applications for PhD entry in September 2019 under the following schemes:

1. (For UK/EU residents only) Studentships awarded by the Graduate Training Programme of the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH)

The SGSAH is run by a consortium of eight Scottish universities and funds around 55 studentships per annum.

Successful applicants will benefit from fees, stipend (UK residents only) and additional flexible funding.

The first step is to apply for the PhD programme at the University of St Andrews. The final deadline for applications under this scheme is Tuesday 18 December 2018, but candidates are encouraged to contact potential supervisors as soon as possible.

2. (For UK, EU and international applicants) Scholarships awarded by the School of Classics and the University of St Andrews.

The School of Classics expects to make several awards for 2019 entry. All applications received by Tuesday 18 December 2018 will be considered for these sources of scholarship funding, though we may also make later rounds of selection.

These include:

  1. Wolfson Foundation doctoral scholarships for students in History, Literature, and/or Languages. Applicants must be able to start their doctoral degree in September 2019.
Deadline for internal selection: Tuesday 18 December 2018.
